Lent Topics

Prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. We know these are the pillars but how can we allow this season to transform us? Deacon Wally's Lenten talks can serve as a single workshop or combined for a three-night parish mission.

Understanding the Season of Lent and Our Participation

The Lenten season is often misunderstood. Many believe this is simply a time of giving up chocolate or some other item. We often notice the Church looks different at this time. But what is this season actually all about? How can we maximize our participation, not just during Lent, but for the rest of our lives? Deacon Wally will help you discover the answers!

40 Days of Renewal

Every year the Church in her infinite wisdom sets aside 40 days for an opportunity of renewal. Lent is a the chance for renewing our understanding of our relationship with Christ, growing more deeply in love with Christ, and honestly participating in a life-changing season. What do we do during this time? How do we grow? What can we do to truly experience renewal during Lent?

Baptism, Reconciliation, and Lent

After Jesus' baptism in the Jordan we are told that He was led by the Spirit to the desert to be tempted. Interesting, how just after being baptized the Son of God is sent to the desert alone to be tempted. We too are led to our own deserts and are allowed to experience these temptations as we move through society. How do we respond? Do we find time to truly reconcile ourselves with God? For those joining the Catholic Church, our elect, this is also an important season for them to prepare for the Sacraments of Initiation (baptism, Holy Communion, and confirmation). How are we assisting these men and women on their journey of faith. Let's explore these questions together!
